چکیده
Review: Anycast-Aware Transport for Content Delivery Networks Published at the most recent WWW conference (WWW ’09), “Anycast-Aware Transport for Content Delivery Networks” attempts to address several challenges in utilizing IP anycast as a redirection mechanism for content delivery networks (CDNs). Typically, DNS is used by CDNs to automatically distribute load to the most appropriate edge-server and to redirect traffic away from particular edgeservers as needed (for example, to take the server out of service for maintenance). In the authors’ prior work (see reference [6] cited in the paper), they proposed utilizing IP anycast as an alternative to DNS to overcome several of its inherent limitations:

Middleware Abstractions for Content-Aware Media Streaming
With recent advances in network-adaptive media streaming, the quality and robustness of multimedia delivery over best-effort packet networks improved significantly. Since the proposed mechanisms for partially-reliable delivery and networkadaptive encoding require close interactions between transport systems and encoding layers, they increase the overall system complexity while their benefits re...
متن کاملAnycasting in connection-oriented computer networks: Models, algorithms and results
Our discussion in this article centers around various issues related to the use of anycasting in connection-oriented computer networks. Anycast is defined as a one-to-one-of-many transmission to deliver a packet to one of many hosts. Anycasting can be applied if the same content is replicated over many locations in the network. Examples of network techniques that apply anycasting are Content De...

Performance of online applications directly impacts user satisfaction. A major component of the user-perceived performance of the application is the time spent in transit between the user’s device and the application existing in data centers. Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) are typically used to improve user-perceived application performance through a combination of caching and intelligent rou...

1. PROBLEM & MOTIVATION Smartdevices are becoming the primary or only Internet point of access for an ever larger fraction of users. Nearly a quarter of current web traffic is mobile, and recent industry studies have estimated a fourfold increase in global mobile data traffic by 2018, mainly driven by data demands and the growing number of smart phones and tablets [7]. Content delivery networks...
متن کاملAnycast Latency: How Many Sites Are Enough?
Anycast is widely used today to provide important services including naming and content, with DNS and Content Delivery Networks (CDNs). An anycast service uses multiple sites to provide high availability, capacity and redundancy, with BGP routing associating users to nearby anycast sites. Routing defines the catchment of the users that each site serves. Although prior work has studied how users...
